Emeralda Golf Club, Friday 25th September, 2020 ,12:15 Tee Off.

Just seven Months after the first ever JAWS Golf Society game in early February, JAWS is now proud to be home to 200+ and counting social golfing members.

As golfers turning out on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons club games continues to increase in numbers and with a growing members base, the admins decided a few months back that the time was right to get together and play ‘tournament golf, for a good cause.

Its power in the numbers, and the seed was planted for the inaugural JAWS Golf Tournament:

The JAWS Charity Golf Day, at Emeralda Golf Club, one of JAWS favorite Friday afternoon venues.

Our chosen charity for the event was Lestari Sayang Anak, a children’s orphanage in South Jakarta, established in 2009 by Ingrid van der Mark.

Today the orphanage is home to 10 wonderful children, 7 boys and 3 girls painstakingly and in with love taken care of by Ingrid herself, her husband and 5 full time caretakers.

The reason for most kid’s being at the orphanage is Economical, for example the father leaves the mother alone at home and the mother forced to work herself is unable to afford another mouth to feed.

We are very proud to support our chosen charity as the admins feel that supporting a smaller charity, our efforts can make more of an impact and benefit the children and their caregivers directly going forward.

The Day-Friday 25th September, 2020

94 Golfers arrived just before noon, on a very sunny day at Emeralda, ready for the 12:15 tee off on the River and Lake, Arnold Palmer designed courses.

White tees and Handicap 36 was the format of the day, with golfers vying for Best Nett 1,2 & 3 and Best Gross honors, and Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin novelty prizes, and a 25 juta cash Hole in One Cash Prize.

With many Golfers looking sharp in their JAWS golf shirts by Zeno from Sumo Caddy.

For what the course lacked in length, the Emeralda greens caused havoc for many golfer’s scorecards, yet several crafty players took advantage of the glorious afternoon sunshine and calm breeze, to put together some tidy and very competitive scoring.

A final whip-round post dinner from the admins further added to the kitty of donations from the open hearts on the day, thank you all!

The highlight of the day was our Auction, where thanks to kind donations from JAWS golfers we auctioned off some impressive Golf Equipment, Hotel and Golf flight Vouchers.

Summary

With 94 golfers joining our inaugural golf event and 60 million rupiah donated to our chosen charity: Lestari Sayang Anak.

We were proud to put on our first tournament for a cause, not only did we go out and play the game we all love and have fun in the sun, we did so whilst raising money for a charity and kids who really need our support.

It would never have happened without you JAWS golfers, taking your time out, during these uncertain times, to join our event and support us, we appreciate that.

A recent Japanese Doctor’s health report regarding Co-Vid 19 survival and health recommendations revealed:exercising outdoors in the sun as one of the best forms of Co-Vid prevention tools.

Golf should and will go on, and let’s continue to play this beautiful game, mindfully, with social distancing, but let’s not forget to have fun whilst doing so.

Finally thanks to Emeralda Golf Club, Bu Thia Ellis’ Events and Golf Operations Team were awesome on the day and during all the hardwork in preparations.

Thanks for your support once again, and Happy Golfing JAWS SHARKS!
