Situated 20 minutes from Bogor and overlooking an extinct volcano, Rancamaya Golf Course offers golfers a soothing round of golf. The weather was perfect and 14 eager golfers took on the challenge.

Divya, Chris and Laurie were the first group off hole 1. Often in golf you need a good start , however Divya didn’t start well and this probably had an impact on the rest of his round.

The only highlight was a par on the tricky 17th par 3. Laurie showed that age, and playing off the blues does not affect a skilled golfer.

Laurie often out drove his younger opponents and his driving was the highlight of his game but some loose shots added to a number of high scoring holes.

Chris continued with his consistent play and played to his handicap but with more concentration could have challenged the leader.

2nd off Hole #1 at Rancamaya were the threesome of Coops, Vijay and Simon. Coops mesmerised by the views of Gunung Salak on his first visit to Rancamaya and the cool temperatures of Bogor left his GPS at home as Drives were not finding the fairway all day.

A flight of diversity with Coops golfing at 6ft 6 inches saw a petrified caddy as she left her masker on all day. Vijay fresh from a putting tip from a fellow member continues to improve knocking off a mere 20 shots from his previous round and hit several solid shots most notably with his hybrid from the tee.

Simon returning to his home course as a junior made the most of his homecoming shooting his best round for months with a 75 gross to take best Net 1, thanks to a classic round of fairways and greens: solid drives and well struck irons offering several looks at a birdie.

Rancamaya’s stifling heat and mammoth lakes tried hard and early to get the best of Group 3 (Indar, Aiden, Aleksi and John).

They all found enough water that wetsuits could have been more useful than golf shirts. Despite that, Group 3 found lots of shining moments. Aleksi had a slow start and shared with all in earshot Finnish words that sounded expletive. However, he later found inner strength, along with a wee dram, and was unstoppable on the back nine.

Both Aiden and Indar were hitting monster drives throughout the day but at times coming up a little short on the greens. As a Rancamaya member, John found that home field advantage was no such thing. He struggled on all aspects of his game but found solace in playing with a great group of guys and learning some new Finnish swear words.
The last group of 4 musketeers consisted of: Randy, Tarlok, Bobby and Anton.

Whilst playing some inconsistent golf, Bobby still managed to conjure up two birdies showing that he still can produce some magic on occasions.

Tarlok, fresh off his win at Jagorawi ,was unable to maintain his form today and felt tired throughout an insignificant round- next time Mr Tarlok! Anton enjoyed his first round at the course but found the course challenging.

The star of the group was Randy, who played his best round for a while and managed to finish 2nd overall with a Net 70. Randy’s best shot of the day was on the par 3, 17th hole, where he managed to land his shot 1 metre from the pin.- Well done Sir!

A big thank you to the team at Rancamaya for the support and organization , specially Ms Cynthia , we will be back soon.
Congratulations to all players, taking top spot was Simon Reynolds with a super score of Gross 75, Net 69. Close on his heels was Randy who took second place with a Gross 88, Net 70 and in third place was Chris lever with a Gross 90 and Net 73.

The lucky winners of the vouchers for Emeralda Golf Course were: Aleksi and Vinay.
