the day that was 9th June 2020

Our second visit to Imperial Golf Course saw 13 golfers enjoy a relaxing round of golf in perfect conditions. The course was in good shape and with very little traffic, the golfers sailed round in just over four hours.

The first group off hole 1 consisted of Lok Budianto , James Bristow and newcomer Mahmood .

After three good drives leaving only around 120m in for each player the scores were a bogey and two double pars respectively .

Thereafter James and Mahood made hard work of the course with only a few bright moments , including an impressive par for Mahmood on the tough 16th par 3 and a fighting par of the lake dominated 9th for James.

Lok however was not put off by James’ and Mahmood’s antics and produced a stunning round of 78 , including solid birdies at 9 and 18 , to take a well deserved second place on the day.

The second group, starting on hole one, consisted of Chris, Robson and newcomer Sam. The only birdie from this group came from Sam on the par 3, 7th hole. That was the highlight of Sam’s round and he found the heat of the day unrelenting.

However Sam was able to put his movie skills to good use and focussed on making several videos of the golfing action. Chris played a steady but an average round of golf  with some good pars and several good approaches to the green. Robson played a solid round and with some more accurate putting could have scored much lower.

His elegant swing however was effective at times and he made some excellent pars and went on to finish joint third overall.

A fantastic day out for the 3 over eager golfers Tarlok , Sari and Divya.

Tarlok looked in killer mode, birding the first hole and the 10th hole and playing pars  with the odd bogie and eventually carding a 77 to win best Net.

Sari, as usual ,was happy- go lucky and made 2 pars and a few bogies; her swing improving by the minute and she is sure to improve her game.

Divya was the oddball out playing bogie golf mostly with the rare par or double bogie. All in all a great day out with friends.

Second Flight off Hole #10 was the fourball of Heri, Gaurav, Cindy and Simon.

Heri, the unofficial winner of Best Dressed in Loud Mouth attire, was enjoying a great day out, and his first game at Imperial, and after 12 holes was hitting fairways and greens all day with steady golf, however was forced to retire after 12 holes with gastric complaints.

Gaurav also enjoying his first visit to Imperial, after a rusty first nine, and many months away from golf, begun to loosen up with a series of well struck tee shots and approach shots, with a crisp long iron dissecting the island fairway on hole 4 followed by a surgical wedge to 10 feet, indicated a very low handicap in previous years.

Cindy, new to the game of golf, showed many signs of promise, with drivers hit hard off the tee, and fearless fairway woods approaching the greens. With some attention to alignment at address and further practice, we are expecting a fast drop in scoring.

Simon’s round started how it meant to finish with a clipped 3 wood off the first tee landing in the middle of the fairway, and a birdie run on holes 11 and 12 of the day, as his putter got hot and into the money with best joint third Net. Attention to finding fairways allowed for attacking the pins from the fairway reaping better rewards then from the rough.

Well done to all players for making it another great day out and thank you Imperial Mba Sasa and Mba Resida and team for taking such good care of the JAWS Sharks.

Congratulations to the outstanding player of the day which was Tarlok with  an impressive Net 66. Lok was in second position with a net 71 closely followed by Simon and Robson who shared third place with Net 72.

The Lucky Draw winners for vouchers at Matoa were: Chris, Sam, James and Mahmood.

Next up is the beautiful Sentul Highlands on 11th June 2020. See you there.
