the day that was 17th November 2020

Without a cart, a golfer walks approximately 10 kilometers during an 18 hole round of golf.

That makes for 170 kilometers of trodden land by a school of Land Sharks on steamy Tuesday morning at Cengkareng Golf Club.

The five JAWS flights set off like packs of predators in search of birdies and pars.  Extreme heat and fast greens made for mixed results with net scores ranging from 72 to 90.  A big thanks to all who joined.

It was a rollercoaster ride for Aiden, Aleksi, Srinivas and John.  Srinivas struggled off the first hole but then found a good rhythm especially off the tees.  Even with his four pars and an impressive birdie on the 7th hole, managing the tricky greens kept him out of contention.

Aleksi had mixed results on the front nine with his monster drives not finding the fairways consistently.  He recovered on the back with five pars and a birdie.  After a long hiatus from golf, Aiden felt rusty and it showed as he struggled to get off the tee on the first few holes.  He recovered very nicely as all aspects of his game came to life and finished on top of the JAWS Leaderboard.

After a 5-putt on the first hole, John had hopes of good things to come with a birdie on the second hole but it was not to be.  He struggled most of the day and is seeking therapy.

Priyaji.  We will call him PJ and Emiliano we will call him Emilio and Jim. All had a great day on the course while it seemed that each had a better part of their game. PJ and Emilio both had some great drives and  both captured a birdie.

Jims’s putter was doing well. As he had only 31 putts for the day. all 3 had some fabulous shots in between.

A great day out with Fernando , Willi , Gaurav and Divya.

With Gaurav hitting piercing bullets as drives and good irons play he remained in the hunt only to be undone with a Tiger 10 and 6 lost balls.

Fernando not to be left behind started slow but got his groove on the back nine and stayed between pars and birdies.

Willi played consistent fun golf with a some great chips and putts a hallmark of his game and divya went through some great highs with a chip in par and some not so fun lows with 2 double bogies. All in all a great day out.

With perfect conditions, the trio of Supachai, Chris and Taufik B set off from hole number one.

Chris started with a par but then made a double on the second hole.  He continued to make several pars but also had too many doubles despite some accurate driving.

Supachai started with three pars in a row but then make a triple on the par 5 5th hole.  He made a birdie on hole 11 and shot a gross 42 on the back nine to shoot two over handicap.

Meanwhile, Taufik B had an up and down game with some excellent pars but a few triples and a double par cost him.  Overall a fun day out!

Diana, Hanny and Lora show off their girl power as they teamed up for a hot day of walking.  While they struggled on the front as the evil greens resulted in too many triples, all three showed moments of strength on the back nine with plenty of pars and bogies.

JAWS admin expects they will come on even stronger on the next round!

Congratulations to the winners

A new unique event will be played by JAWS Sharks in December at Jagorawi on the 18th of December.

Whats a Mulligan ?

mulligan is a second chance to perform an action, usually after the first chance went wrong through bad luck or a blunder. Its best-known meaning is whereby a player is informally allowed to replay a stroke, even though this is against the formal rules of golf.

So what is the Mulligan Challenge ?

BEHAVIOUR AND RULES

Over the last few rounds there has been some chatter over the Rules of Golf and Golf etiquettes

Golf is a game for ladies and gentleman, so when one goes for a round of golf be it: social or tournament golf one is required to behave as a lady or a gentleman and abide by golfing etiquette

Yes, JAWS is a golf society promoting camaraderie and fun on the course but abiding by our societies rules of etiquette is essential so that we can assure all JAWS SHARKS of a much better and valuable golfing experience.

Not only must we uphold our reputation as a society at golf courses, don’t forget to value your own reputation as a golfer on and off the golf course, after all, we are all gentlemen and ladies who choose to play a ladies and gentlemen’s game.
