the day that was 16th March, 2021

“Golf is not simply exercise, it is an adventure, a romance. A Shakespeare play in which disaster and comedy are intertwined. You have to live with the consequences of each action “

Harold Segall

13 JAWS Golfers headed Westwards on the Toll taking the Cikupa toll exit after Karawaci to visit Kedaton Golf and Country Club for the first JAWS game there for nearly a year. These brave sharks were rewarded with a pleasant 18 hole layout with water on nearly hole and splendid wooden clubhouse to relax and enjoy a beverage post round.

The Three Musketeers consisting of Bram, Geoff and Chris put away their swords and armed themselves with lethal drivers and other devices to take on the wild west Kedaton Golf and Country Club.

With the sun smiling above, Geoff started in a steady fashion with four bogies in a row but then something went amiss as he made a double par on hole 14 par 5. But that did not deter the young man and  he quickly came back with  a par and then a birdie on hole 17. He then played a steady second nine and made a birdie on hole 8.

Overall one bad hole cost him on the day. Bram played his usual inconsistent game with 6 pars but made several triples proved costly. His drives were long as usual but not always on the fairway. Chris played another solid round with a Gross 89 but could have scored lower with more accurate drives and better chipping. Overall the group had fun, played fast and enjoyed the Kedaton course.

Pras, Tom and Cucu teed of together in the pristine grass of Kedaton. Pras continued his fine form from the weekend with a solid performance on this day: scoring 7 pars and 1 birdie to shoot a nett 67 and winning best nett 1 of the day. Tom and Cucu on the other hand, didn’t have so good of a performance unfortunately, Tom was teeing off very well but had a very bad time trying to get onto the green.

Cucu found plenty of trouble on the fairway but once she got to the greens, she putted almost like a tour professional. Nonethless a good day out for the three players.

1st group off on 10 was Kholifan , Emiliano and Jim.  All 3 guys started off with some fabulous shots but all three guys had there blow up holes during the round, but that’s golf! Kholifan has 3 birdies and shot a very respectable 80 gross for a net 73 and taking 3rd place.

Emiliano played well but had a little trouble coming out of the tee box conistently, but had some fabulous shots to finish with a net 76, just outside the money. Jim played a good round but had one too many blow up holes. Although his chipping was in great shape he would post a net 74. The day was ‘almost’ perfect.

The only fourball of the day at Kedaton Golf course was that of Gaurav, Willi G, Albert and Willie N. starting from the 10th tee. Gaurav, the first one to tee off saw his new Pro V1 take a dip in the lake on his right. The first shot actually summed up the entire day for him as then on he was consistently inconsistent and not the Gaurav that we are used to seeing.

Willi G started off badly with a few double bogeys and had two beautiful chip in’s but sadly for a Bogey and a double Bogey, scrambling. He had a blow out on his last hole Par 4 Index 1 where he got a double Par. Albert on the other hand was consistent throughout his front nine but on the back nine had more than a few bad holes but getting a par on the last hole Index 1 brought a big smile to his face and some consolation.

Willie N, started with a Par and played consistent Golf and continued his good form from the Inter League, he almost had an Eagle on the 14th Par 5 which hit the pin and sat next to it and he had to settle for a Birdie. With only 2 double bogey’s in his entire round, he  finished with a Nett 69 that was good enough to win him the Jaws Best Net 2 for the day.

Congratulations to the Winners:

  1. Prasetyo Sutowo  – Nett 67
  2. Willie Noronha – Nett 69
  3. Kholifan – Nett 73
