8 die-hard JAWS golfers were on time for their 8:00 am Tee Time.
As we congregated on the putting green for a quick chat whilst social distancing before we made our way to the tee’s: with one flight hitting off Hole #1 and the other from Hole#10.
As its was the last day before fasting month, the course was pretty busy, but luckily most golfers had tee’d off earlier and were using carts.
It was great to see all 8 JAWS players opting for the walking option, and at Rp. 350,000 for 18 holes its easy to see how Modern has become the group’s elected ‘home’ course alongside its neatly cut fairways and immaculate greens running at 9.5-10 on the stint meter.

Welcome back Audie and great to bring along your golfing buddy Budi. Another welcome back to Srivinas Murthy who had gone off the radar after winning best nett 1 at Pondok Indah a few weeks back, and as always our loyalist the Flying Finn Alexi Tiihonen who was the worthy winner of the day’s best dressed award.
Blue-skies and sunshines greeted us as we hit off on hole 1 and started our loop of this well kept Peter Thomson designed public golf course in Modernland.
The game’s host knew he was going to have a good day at the races when he birdied the long par 4, index no. 3, Hole #2, hitting his second shot from 155m to 10ft, wasting no time to knock in the putt, then continued to grind down the front nine at +1 at the turn.
It was awesome to watch big-hitting Nick Goodwin bash bomb after bomb off the tee highlighted by his missile on Hole #9, the short par 4 which came to rest 25 m from the green, a 280m drive.
At the turn we bumped into the rest of the gang, and after exchanging pleasantries proceeded to start our second nine after some fresh Tempe cooked by Mrs Goodwin and an ice-cold Pocari Sweat.
We all agree that Modern is in such delightful condition and we may have found Nirvana at Rp 350,000 for 18 Holes here.
