A trip out East to the amazing Jagorawi Golf Course was well rewarded by some great golf and happy golfers. The rain held off and the cool conditions meant perfect golfing conditions.
The surrounding countryside was very scenic and arguably the most beautiful course in the Jakarta area. We were very privileged to have the opportunity to play the old Course.
The play- 11 enthusiastic golfers set off on time with the daunting par 5 . What makes its so challenging?
The tee box is elevated 80 feet above the fairway below and the thin fairway is protected by a large fairway bunker left and the jungle to the right , both right and left are ready to swallow up any off line tee shot.
The highlights of the first group included when Coops lit up his day on the short and quirky par 3, hole 8.
On the uphill Par 3, Coops clipped his 7 iron straight for the pin and it landed and checked 1 meter past the hole for a quick tap-in birdie. Another highlight was The Flying Finn who after landing in the bunker, chipped out and then played a nine iron that landed 11 meters from the pin and rolled in for a birdie.
The second group’s highlights included a monster drive on the par 5 leaving a pitching wedge to the green by Nick Goodwin who birdied the hole. Nick went on to make 4 birdies in all.
And finally the third group where Christophe with his classic booming 3 wood made 2 birdies. Meanwhile, Bobby & Divya had a side betting battle of their own going on and Divya nearly made an eagle on the par 5 but the adulations of the greens got the better of him.
All in all a great day out, with the overall feeling that we shall return! on this note also a big thank you also to all the staff at JAGS they were amazing and took care of every detail for the JAWS sharks.
Finally , congratulations to Coops for consistent play all day and two birdies amongst many pars and a great 85 Gross and 67 Net to take overall first place.
Chris Lever for runner up with a Gross 88, Net 70 and in third place was Nick Godwin with a Gross 86 and Net 74.
Well done to all the players and we meet again on Thursday 30th April at the Modern Golf Club.
