Another visit to our home course Matoa Golf Club on an overcast day saw 14 golfers enjoy the cool conditions and a golf course in good condition.

Under pressure to start, with big black clouds looming, this group made a dash for it, a tad bit earlier than the designated tee off time.

Marvin drove very well to start but somehow seemed to lose his rhythm, a bit wayward of the tees cost him a round that could have been.

He was generally solid tee to green, he just had an off day, better days are coming. Gaurav was solid to tee to green, he was just not able to keep his focus for the entire 18 holes, to make the scores really count.

Nevertheless, his game is improving leaps and bounds every week and his long time away from the game now seems like a distant past. We won’t be surprised if he breaks 80 in the next few weeks, the way he is playing.

He needs to just keep the focus for all 18 holes. Jim and Charles were a pleasant entry to the group, they had a good time today and they will surely be looking forward to shooting some good scores as soon as they get into their rhythm and get more rounds under their belts.

All in all, this four ball enjoyed their round and one can safely say that they will have better days for all of them.

Bobby, Parman and Ben played in the last group.

Bobby started well with a birdie but then struggled to get pars after that. However he had a consistent round with 42 on the front and 42 on the back nine and a Net 75.

Parman continues to drive well and is playing just above his handicap. With some improved putting and chipping he could score much lower in the future. Ben is putting well but needs to work on his overall game so that he can become more consistent.

The 3 chipmunks Aidan, Hillary and Divya had a fantastic day out with UK weather conditions, grey skies and a strong wind to contend with, still made it an awesome outing.

Hillary has been improving courtesy her lesson last time with Simon and hit the driver and wood a lot cleaner with considerable ease.

Work is still needed on chipping but she is improving fast and kept Divya and Aidan laughing with her jokes and banter.

Aidan was hitting bombs on the first 9 holes and played a 44. This got Divya into action and out of nowhere he followed Aidan by hitting bombs on his own.

So much so that on the short 310 meters par 4 both Aidan and Divya were 15 and 20 meters away respectively from the green on their drives , sadly both ended up with bogies. (Aw, what a shame!).

The short game was challenging and Matoa lived up to its adulations on the greens, and a few good putts were missed by all in the group.

All in all, a great day out for the threesome who enjoyed each other’s company as much as the game of golf.

Mars, Chris and Michal were the first group off hole number one in blustery conditions.

Michal was playing his first round of golf on a golf course and realised that golf is not an easy sport. He persevered with his game and did manage to make a par on the back 9 which was his highlight of the round.

Mars played a very good round and shot his handicap. 43 on the front 9 and 43 on the back 9 with some chipped in pars. His elegant drives saw Mars close to the leaders but just missing out on the prizes.

Chris had a good front 9 with a 43 and managed to birdie the 7th hole. Some wayward driving on the back nine cost him dearly and he went on to shoot a Net 76.

Thank you to Matoa GC & Mba Wenny for taking care of us , you never disappoint us !!

Congratulations to all players. The winner on the day was Divya with a Net 69, closely followed by Gaurav with a Net 70 in second place and Aidan took 3rd third place with a Net 71.
