Senayan National GC– Nestled between skyscrapers and with 7 par three holes, this tight course is situated in central Jakarta and was bound to produce some low scores. Although some greens were a tad sandy, overall the course was in good condition and the weather was fine.
Emil, Chris, Fernando and Parman played together.
Emil started well with three pars in a row and a birdie on the 5th hole with his approach shot landing on the green and going straight in the hole.
He continued to play some superb golf on the back 9 with 5 pars and a Gross 37.His total Gross of 79 was enough to win overall with a Net 64.
Also playing good golf throughout were Fernando and Parman. Parman drove straight all day and was very consistent. He birdied the 5th hole and shot 41 on the back 9 to take 2nd place overall with a Net 66. Fernando had two birdies on the front 9 and 4 pars to record an impressive Gross 40 despite a double on the first hole and a triple on the 8th.
Another 5 pars on the back 9 was unfortunately ruined by a double on the 14th and a double par on the last hole which meant he finished 3rd overall with a Net 69 rather than challenging for the lead.
Starting well is important for any golfer and despite a good drive Chris started with a double par after going into 3 bunkers. This had an impact for the rest of the front 9 with some very erratic golf. But to his credit, he did slowly improve and shot a Gross 41 on the back 9 to gain back some self pride.
Mahmood, Jim, Randy and Febian had a fun round of golf. Randy played a good front 9 with a respetable 41 Gross but couldn’t maintain his form on the back 9 despite birdieing the 3rd hole.
Too many doubles and a triple dented any chance of troubling the leaders on this occasion.
Mahmood enjoyed his round and is learning golf. Too many double pars didn’t help his overall score and he needs to persevere and work on his game in order to improve.
Febian is slowly improving and played much better than his last round. A respectable 75 Net and a few pars were the highlight of his round.
Meanwhile Jim played a consistent round of golf, steady but not spectacular and finished with Net 75. With further practise with his irons, his game could improve in the future.
