Our regular visit to the Gary Player designed Sentul Highlands Golf Course. A turn out of 23 players enjoyed the panoramic views, a course that was in good condition and the weather was cool.
A fantastic day out for the 4 ball of Taufik B , Robert , Fernando and Divya.
Divya started solid with pars and followed it up with a birdie but then went down hill on the back nine.
Robert hit some long drives and some extra long irons but some wayward hitting cost him. He however recovered by his short game skills time and again.
It was a see saw of a game for Taufik vs Fernando in the match play with Fernando being 3 up on the front 9 only to see an attacking Taufik and a small injury on Fernando’s finger making him lose some focus on the back nine and eventually Taufik winning with 3 up in the end.
All in all a great day of golf with mates.
Peter Dobereiner once said, “half of golf is fun, the other half is putting.” Friday’s round at Sentul Highlands saw high emotions on the greens as Erik, John and Pras all had numerous birdie chances but converted them into bogies.
Erik and Pras managed a few birdies on the back nine while John’s putter got a good scolding. Joining JAWS for the first time, Erik had some monster swings off the tee with his trusty hybrid.
A fantastic day of fun for all three and as Ben Hogan once said, “the most important shot in golf is the next one.” See you all next week!
The 1st foursome off the 10th tee was Joshua, Randy, Parman & Jim. Joshua seemed to be making everything work on the first nine holes.
Especially his putter. While Parman took control of his driver on the back nine hitting 6 out of nine fairways whilst Randy and Jim struggled a little and did a lot of scrambling to pull their games together. Overall a fun round of golf.
Bobby, Nick, Laurie and Richard played together.
Bobby played solid golf and managed to make 10 pars with only 1 double bogie.
He made some good putts to make pars. Nick was playing well with only 2 blow-out holes (double pars). He teed off with mostly 5 irons to reach 210m. His drive of 280m on hole 9 gave him a nice 56 wedge on for 2. Monster drive!
Laurie also played solid golf. He drove well, however on a few holes he went in the penalty zone yet often recovered well.
Richard was struggling with his putter today and missed many close putts. But he was very calm and showed some good golf shots. Richard didn’t finish the game as he had to leave.
Chris, Hari- Taufik, Tom and Wakit were the second group off 10. Wakit straight away started smashing long drives and continued long drives throughout his round.
He shot a Gross 42 on the front nine including a birdie on hole 16. Tom started well but then struggled on the long par 5 hole. He recovered after that and made a birdie on hole 9, the highlight of his round. Hari played par, bogey golf and was consistent throughout with some accurate drives and precise chipping.
Chris started well with a birdie on hole 12 and was on for a good score but somehow managed to implode on the 18th hole with a double par. He went on to get Net 73.
The last filght starting on hole 10 contained Tarlok, Aldi, Febian and Sari. Tarlok and Aldi were playing their match-play. Tarlok played solid golf from the first hole with his pars and birdies and finished strong with 69 best Net, overall winner. Aldi, with his long driver, gave his best shot to win the match play but unfortunately he lost to Tarlok.
However he finished in third place with 71 Net overall. Febian and Sari enjoyed their game and finished with some good pars.
Congratulations to the winners today.
First place was Tarlok, Net 69. Second was Bobby, Net 70. Third was Aldi, Net 71 and fourth was Eric with a Net 72.
