Nineteen Sharks braved Jagorawi’s Old Course on a Tuesday morning and despite its tight fairways and sea of white stakes, a few rouges still found some shining moments with Antoine hitting an impressive net 62 to top the JAWS Leaderboard for the day.

Nice work. A big thanks to all who made it out.

The first flight off the Par 5, Hole #10 consisted of: Antoine, Divya, Jude and Simon. From the first strike with his driver, which hit the sweet spot landing in the centre of the fairway, you could sense this was going to be a good day for Antoine.

The opening shot set the tone for a very tidy and consistent round. His short game around the greens was particularly impressive. On several holes, with approach shots landing short of the green, Antoine played his low-flighted PW releasing to the hole followed by a short par putt, a combination of good course knowledge and excellent technique. His solid ball striking rewarded him with an eye-opening 10 under 62 net, and which will offer him huge confidence into what he can achieve as a golfer, keep it up Antoine! His short game clearly shows how one can still score well despite missing greens.

Divya went into the game on a hot streak, with frequent appearances in the winner’s circle and some extra pocket money in the wallet.

His first nine was a slow burner, with some inconsistent ball striking off the tee but his iron play was as sharp as ever. A back nine which included 2 birdies on the Par 3’s produced a solid back nine and shooting even par with his handicap. Welcome back to Jude, looking fresh after his couple of weeks in Bali. On a course like the Old Course which requires accuracy off the tee, Jude struggled a little to find fairways off the tee which led to too much pressure on the second shots.

As the round progressed and the swing slowed down, there was a succession of well struck irons and a much better back nine. Simon came into the round fresh after the previous round’s podium finish. His accuracy off the tee as one of his forte’s the course layout suits his game. A solid 4 over on the opening nine included some superb up and downs with his trusty lob wedge from tight lies, after loose irons shot left him in a spot of bother to get up and down.

It’s clear he will spend some time at the range as he lost his rhythm on the back nine off the tee, hitting a few wayward drives. Nonetheless a great round, on an immaculate course, with great company.

The fourth flight was manned by Guarav, Aleksi, Audie and Subash. Subash and Guarav both stared the round with penalty shots that let to double bogies while Audie started with a par and Aleksi a bogie.

Despite the rough start, Subash came on strong afterwards while Audie stayed strong throughout the round.

Aleksi found a few birdies but the evil white stakes of the Old Course gave him trouble. Guarav also found some brilliant moments but also found trouble keeping him out of contention.

Geoff, Chris, Mike and Will A played in the same flight and had a fun round. There was a group behind walking BUT, Geoff decided that at the age of 77, walking was too slow and jogged from each strike of the ball to the next, ‘Forrest Gump’ style.

His golf was not bad either with some excellent holes including a birdie on hole 8. Chris was having an off day with 5 OBs on the front 9. To his credit, he played well on the back 9 with a 14 stroke improvement.

Meanwhile Will had a reasonable front 9 with a birdie on hole 7 but then struggled on the back 9.

Mike was the most consistent in the group shooting a Gross 87 and a birdie on hole 13 and used his slow but deliberate swing with great effect. Overall a fun day out on a challenging course.

Pras, Iris and Ruth were the first flight to tee off from the 1st hole. As usual, Pras started strong from the tee with beautiful, powerful drives.

However the fast greens were more than capable of significantly impacting Pras’ score for the round because he had more than a handful of 3 putts, and even one 4-putt. Pras finished with a nett score of 73.

Iris was having trouble at the start of the day, but as the sun become covered by clouds she was more comfortable with her golf game.

She started to have great tee shots after a few holes and her putting was enough to give her a nett score of 74. Ruth had a fantastic day on the course.

While she did find trouble on the tee box and on the fairway, on the green was where she shined the brightest. She had six 1-putt holes which gave her a nett score of 69.
