7 JAWS players headed down South out of Jakarta, down the Jagorawi Toll, heading for Sentul – Bogor then up towards the spectacular Mountain course: Rainbow Hills. With the roads seemingly more quiet then normal due to the Omricon scare keeping many close to home and not travelling unnecessarily. Albeit, not a valid reason to keep the diehard JAWS Friday morning golfing contingent from playing their morning golf.
It’s was a first visit to Rainbow for nearly 2 years on a course which was a regular JAWS venue in the first year of the society in 2020. The multiple award winning layout, is not an easy Golf course but by all means a very attractive layout and setting amongst the higher altitude, clean air and rolling hills of Sentul. Judging by the final scores you can see its been awhile since the last time JAWS played her with only our JAWS Bogor resident and mountain course specialist Greg White shooting his handicap or better with an impressive 71 nett. Great round, and the run away winner for Best Nett 1 on the day, very impressive to shot your handicap or better at Rainbow Greg!
A welcome back to Mr John Packer after his time back in the States, we missed you and your banter. There has been a drop in beer sales at Golf courses since you’ve been away, they are starting to recover now. We had two lefties in flight one at Rainbow with another welcome back to JP Severke. JP and his smooth left hand swing, love the mountain courses of Bogor and he will never miss an opportunity to escape Jakarta and play in the fresh air of the area. A solid knock of 76 nett was enough to take Best Nett 2 and some pocket money on the day. Well played sir!
Feedback has been noted that Rainbow Hills may not be the best course for mid-high handicappers, and as the scores indicate evidently so. Nonetheless, it is always good to play new courses, different layouts to refresh our minds, eyes and test our golf skills, and get us out of our comfort zones. Until next time Rainbow! Hopefully it wont be so long next time…
