JAWS at Bogor Raya

Friday 18th February 2022

Sometimes we get so afraid of hitting bad shots (making bad pitches), that we don’t let ourselves to hit (pitch) good ones.”

Butch Harman

28 JAWS players headed South right the way down the JOR Toll Road turning off at the Kebun Raya Bogor Toll Exit for the well manicured Resort Course: Bogor Raya. Having been a while since our last visit the numbers who signed up and woke up early on a Friday morning to make their 8am tee time suggests we should definitely play here more often.

This award winning Resort Course comes complete with one of the best clubhouses in Indonesia, beautifully landscaped and designed Golf Course by Australian Resort course specialist Graham Marsh which appeals to mid and higher handicappers, with a Golf course layout that is fun to play yet suitably challenging. There is also a driving range with outdoor bays where you can hit off the turf and a huge short game area where one can sharpen their short game skills before they head to the first tee. Enjoying the open air showers ‘post round’ in the locker rooms, looking out onto the golf course is a great way to celebrate and reflect on your round of golf.

The Play:

Friday the 18th February 2022 seemed like a popular day for Jakarta Golfers with 150 golfers out on course in the morning session. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of players on course and waiting to tee off it meant a delayed tee off from the scheduled 8am tee time, with the last flight not teeing off till 9 am…. allowing for 2 flights of generals to tee of beforehand who were on the cross over between their front and back nines.

Once the flights ahead picked up some momentum the game progressed at a faster rhythm. Despite some light rain on the front nine during tee off onwards, the weather cleared up beautifully on the back nine with clear skies, sunshine and the cooler Bogor breeze prevalent. The scoring was ‘hot’ amongst the JAWS Sharks out on course with 4 players shooting sub-70 Nett Scores: Well played – Divya, Fernando, Okkie and Willi G! Divya came home in 36, even par on his back nine to secure Best Nett. Congratulations to one of our female Sharks Okkie, for her impressive Nett 69, keep sharpening that short game Okkie, and the good scores will keep coming! Will Adrian once again showing his strength at the ‘Bogor Courses’ with yet another appearence on the leaderboard amongst the winners. Han Peng continues his steady form and handicap improvement with a solid 72 to prop up the winners in sixth place. JAWS Captain, Simon was chuffed with the Low Gross 78, and grateful for being out in the fresh air after recovering and completing his 10 days of self-isolation, fresh and well rested.

Congratulations to the Winners:

Best Nett 1: Divya Ahuja / Nett 67

Best Nett 2: Fernando Gaggino / Nett 68

Best Nett 3-tied: Okkie N & Willi Goldschmidt/ Nett 69

Best Nett 5: Will Adrian / Nett 71
