JAWS @ Cengkareng 17.06.22

Friday Social Golfing with the lads!

19 JAWS Sharks gathered at Cengkareng, with a big thanks to the JAWS Cengkareng contingent for salvaging the Friday game last minute. The quick re-location of venue from PSP to Cengkareng did not take long to gather popularity and its clear that Cengkareng remains a very popular playground for the JAWS sharks, and a great course for a round of fun and competitive social golfing.

The Play:

A warm welcome to first timer and new JAWS social golfer Milind from Singapore a golfing friend and guest of Gaurav Shirke. Milind didnt take long to make his mark posting a tidy nett 72 to pocket some money for the weekend, very impressive considering it was his first time playing Cengkareng. Milind resides and golfs in Singapore and has an open invitation for any JAWS players who happen to be in Singapore and are looking for a game.

Yarub continues his fine form and ever improving game with a solid nett 73, solid off the tee and with approach shots, some time working on short game will see a rapidly improving handicap, keep it up Yarub!

Sharing the same football team (Liverpool Fans) and same nett score… admin Simon and Terrence handed in a pair of nett 74’s. Simon recovered from a slow and shaky start to post a decent score, and along with 2 birdies, hitting 2/4 par 5’ in 2 and two putting for birdie on both, his highlight was the Drive on Hole #9 the par 4, which came to rest only 30m short of the green, must have been the pre-round protein shake.

Terrence was steady all day and his score could have been much lower if his putter was a little hotter. On a day that most players struggled Terrence will be chuffed to have posted a decent nett score, on a day when most Sharks struggled, well played Terrence.

Finally Colin Sifton was surprised to be in the money, but due to the unusually high scores for Cengkareng, he managed to sneak in at Best Nett 5, and pocket enough cash to buy a Burger, Fries and Beer. Colin was super solid and long off the tee, and a bit of fine tuning on short game and 100 yards and in, Colin could be posting some lower scores.

The damp course conditions, from a week of heavy rains, combined with some wretched pin placements must have contributed to a round of unsually high scoring at Cengkareng with incredible only 1/19 players shooting their handicap or better.

Nonetheless with dark rain clouds looming at tee off and afternoon rains scheduled, miraculously the rain stayed away and blew elsewhere in town and the sky cleared and shone for the last few holes of the afternoons game, and the players all finished just in time to retire into Mulligan’s Bistro and Bar for cold beers and snacks to kick start the weekend.

Happy Golfing Sharks!

Congratulations to the Winners:

Best Nett 1:        Milind / Nett 72

Best Net 2:          Yarub / Nett 73

Best Nett 3:        Simon Reynolds & Terrence Martin / Nett 74

Happy Golfing! Sharks…
