Beautiful Emeralda GC designed by Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus , this 27- hole course offered an uphill challenge to the 15 golfers who took it to task.

We played the picturesque Lake & River nine, overall a fantastic day out with fast greens , amazing weather and a great bunch of guys.

First group, on the River Nine, comprised off Kevin Dobson, KK, Nick Goodwin and Simon Reynolds.

Big welcome to DOGS stalwart Kevin Dobson, fresh faced out of a long stint in quarantine, and plenty of big hitters in KK, Simon and Nick booming 250m drives all day long. Nick hit the longest drive on Lake #6 with his drive landing 20m from the green on the modest 305m Par 4.

Drive for sure and putt for dough comes into mind for the three musketeers, as despite heroics off the tee, Net Scores of 73,74 and 79 meant a bad day at the office with wedge and putter for these three. A day to forget with the putter for Simon, as 35 putts, does not cut the mustard for a 6 handicap, but a snaking 15ft putt for birdie on the second hole will be remembered. The shot of the day came from Kevin, despite struggling a bit due to his first round in 2 months, on River#6 the treacherous Index 1 Par 4, his third shot from 105m landed on the side of the cup and lipped out for a tap-in par, a net birdie.

The second flight off the lake course, Zac got busy with a quick birdie and was on song all day long with a birdie train at one point shooting 3 birdies in a row and then a hole out birdie from 60 feet in the bunker with a fried egg lie. Sheesh !!

Remarkable 73 gross for Zac as some of his magic rubbed off , Tralok and Divya caught along with his birdie wave, both shooting 39 each of the front 9 and then eventually slowing down on the back nine.

Christophe was being Christophe with his choicest Spanish / french phrases as he played beautifully hitting booming 5 irons instead of the driver and scoring from Par , bogie , par , double bogie ( a bit unlucky on some holes !)

All in all a great round with lots of laughs , trained caddies, lots of needling, banter and golf gold dust by Zac.
The first group off the Lakes 1st , comprising Craig , Bobby and James were smoothly away over the lake , but the group’s momentum was halted on the 3rd when Bobby’s cart was assisted by a concrete rubbish bin .

The rest of the round was dominated by Bobby’s consistent driving ( off the tee !) and great recovery play to record a steady 85 . Alas Craig and James did not bring their A-games , with too many 3 putts on the slick greens .

The second group, on the River course, had a fun day but the group in general found the course challenging. Aleksi had one of his more inconsistent rounds with a double par on the first hole. He recovered well and made several birdies.

Laurie played some steady golf but was let down by his putting and Chris just was not on his game with several out of bounds which cost him.

Vinay enjoyed the course but found the the course challenging. Overall it was fun day on a beautiful hot day.

Congratulations to everyone for a great day out and thank you to the team at Emeralda for making JAWS feel so welcome and taking care of our every need.
The overall winner was a welcome return to form by Divya who shot a Gross 82, Net 69. Zac played a much improved game to take second place with a Gross 73 , Net 70 and Tralok took third position with a Gross 84, Net 71.
Next up is the Beautiful Imperial Golf Club on Tuesday the 19th May 2020.
