Warm sunshine greeted the 16 golfers to Cengkareng Golf Club. Our first afternoon tee off was rewarded with perfect conditions and the opportunity to enjoy a picturesque golf course.
Subash, Chris, Parman and Audie played together.
Subash can con-jure up some magical golf at times and he showed his tricks on some holes. He has an elegant swing but was let down by inconsistency on the day.
His highlight was a birdie on the 14th par 5 hole. Parman hit some long drives and generally played well to finish joint runner up whilst Audie made too many errors to trouble the leaders.
Chris played a solid game but some bad decision making and poor putting cost him dearly.
What started out as a warm hot sunny sweaty round for the 4 oddballs Budi Lok , Christine , Holgar and Divya turned out to be a fantastic fun round with Christine’s and Holgar’s jokes, banter resulting in lots of laughter despite some double bogies.
Budi lok was on fire and went par after par with devilish putting and iron play but finally cooled his heels on the back 9 to some extent.
Christine, nursing a banged up arm, was allowed to move her ball for medical reasons and played amazingly well with some great pars and accurate putting.
Holgar, playing with a hangover, decided the best way to remove a hangover was to drink some more and surprisingly he played better after a few beers.
Well done mate , something we all can learn from.
Divya, nursing his sprained tired old body, played reasonably ok but with a few double bogies, this meant he just missed out on playing to his handicap.
All in all, a day well spent ! Emil, Mars, Marvin and Ronald teamed up together.
Ronald and Marvin started well, especially Marvin who birdied hole 4. He continued to make many pars throughout his round and ended up with a respectful Gross 82 and overall joint winner. Ronald continued to make a number of pars and remarkably scored 5 on every hole on the back 9.
An uneventful round for Mars and Emil with some inconsistent golf but their day was lit up when they encountered a snake on the 15th hole( well the caddie saw it). A few beers helped both golfers calm their nerves and Mars finished with a par on the 17th and birdied the last hole.
Aleksi started the round with a fantastic eagle chip on a par 5 a beautiful way to part from Jakarta as he heads home for 2 months and this SHARK is now to be seen only in August , safe travel to the FLYING FINN
Aleksi was driving the ball solid and as usual his short game was very consistent. He played very well and will be missed dearly and so the group was more about the farewell party with beers and laughs.
Gaurav was consistent from fairway to green and played a solid round, however it could have been lower with some silly errors which caused a few dropped shots. Once the basic errors are rectified, Gaurav will be shooting single digit scores. Gaurav came joint 2nd overall. Well done Gaurav.
Karan came joint 1st with Marvin with a best Net 72. Considering the first hole wasn’t the greatest for him, he showed great resilience to fight back and to produce a good score now down from a 24 handicap to 17 and going lower soo. He made a great birdie pitching his shot to 1 foot to tap in for birdie and he pulled off a great bunker shot sinking the shot for birdie. Great round Karan !
Aidan was connecting with his driver at times, hitting long drives, however his decision making let him down, he just needs to focus on percentages and not being too greedy at times and he should generate a low score compared to what his scoring.

With 11 players shooting close to their handicaps, it was very tight on the leaderboard.
However, Karan and Marvin shared joint first place with Net 72 and Gaurav and Parman shared second place with Net 73. Congratulations to the winners and all players who attended our first afternoon tee off.
The Lucky Draw Vouchers for Emeralda were won by: Aidan and Ronald.
