the day that was 18th December 2020

Playing the stunning Jagorawi Old Course once again proved to be a challenge to most golfers on a wet day. The course was in perfect condition despite the rain and the 9 golfers enjoyed a Friday afternoon’s round of golf.

Teeing off on Hole # 1 were Geoff, Chris and Simon. The three interleague veterans were reunited and reminisced of old times on their old hunting ground at Jagorawi.

Geoff played his regular canny game from the first tee, and what he lacks in distance off the tee it’s refreshing playing with a player like Geoff, who plays his golf very fast, wasting no time and pushed the three ball through the rain and windy conditions for 18 holes in bang on 4 hours.

Social golfers can learn a lot from Geoff, wasting no time between shots, no paralysis from analysis when you play with Geoff, keep it up Geoff.

Chris, with his mind on his 2 week Bali vacation was slow out of the blocks opening up with 3 triple bogeys. Hats off to Chris for hanging in there and turning around his game on the inward nine, as his normal game began to shine through, as he regained his focus, found his rhythm and shot his handicap easily for the final nine holes.

Simon was hot and cold just like the weather, with two birdies and two doubles summing up his day. Enough positives to focus going into the New Year:  like his two birdies, a 15ft uphill birdie on the second hole, and the fast breaking 15ft birdie downhill birdie on the par 5, fifteenth.

Solid round of Nett 75 was enough to take Best Nett III suitably impressively on a tough course playing even tougher in rainy, wet conditions.

It was a fun filled day with Shashvat ,  William and Divya in the same group. Between chats of cricket , golf and India/ Australia ongoing Series a couple of great shots were also made.

Shashvat as always a power hitter was off point and had a rough day with at one point having  3 OBS on a hole but still grinded his round out.

William a first timer to Jagorawi found it challenging but made some beautiful iron shots whilst Divya played smooth consistent golf with an odd blow out hole to hit his handicap in wet conditions.

A great fun day out.

Audie, Antoine and Andre played together.

Audie started well with a par and several bogies but then had a few triples. He generally played well though on a tough course.

Andre was making his first appearance with JAWS and found the course challenging. A few OBS didn’t help his score but a Gross 46 on the first nine was respectful.

Antoine, playing his third game with JAWs, shot his best round so far with a Gross 92 and second place overall.

Congratulations to the winners today.

1) Best Net 72- Divya.         2)  Antoine, Net 73.     3rd)    Simon, Net 75.

BEHAVIOUR AND RULES

Over the last few rounds there has been some chatter over the Rules of Golf and Golf etiquettes

Golf is a game for ladies and gentleman, so when one goes for a round of golf be it: social or tournament golf one is required to behave as a lady or a gentleman and abide by golfing etiquette

Yes, JAWS is a golf society promoting camaraderie and fun on the course but abiding by our societies rules of etiquette we can assure you of a much better and valuable golfing experience for your playing partners and yourself.

Not only must we uphold our reputation as a society at golf courses, don’t forget to value your own reputation as a golfer on and off the golf course, after all… we are all gentlemen and ladies who choose to play a ladies and gentlemen’s game.
