68 JAWS players assembled as 34: 2-person scramble teams for the Tenth and Last Round of the 2022 SINGGASANA HOTELS CHARITY LEAGUE 2-PERSON SCRAMBLE of 2022 at Cengkareng, in support of JAWS ongoing charity: Lestari Sayang Anak (HOME | lestari-sayang-anak (lestarisayanganak.org), a small children’s orphanage in Kemang, South Jakarta, lovingly run by Ingrid Van Der Meek and her team of 5 caregivers. The orphanage currently has 8 orphans, as two have already been adopted by Bu Ingrid herself.
This was by far our biggest turnout of the year, and a big thank you for all players who came out to play and support our charity. In great spirits, with many teams in full throttle competing for the ‘best dressed’ team award. With so many great outfits awarding the winners was no easy task, we assure you.
Lestari Sayang Anak has been our chosen charity since our first charity event in 2020 and long may it continue. After the Rp. 5,900,000 raised during the latest date on 30.12.22 – and the total 10 scramble events in 2022 we have raised Rp. 31,000,000 over the year and Ingrid has expressed he gratitude for our continuing support during the year from our monthly charity events. With the funds really helping out with the day to day expenses at the orphanage especially with medical, dental and school fees.
The Play:
The scoring was impressive during the 10th edition of the SINGGASANA HOTELS CHARITY LEAGUE 2-PERSON SCRAMBLE, and despite some wet conditions around the course after a long period of wet weather, their were plenty of Birdies on the scorecards. Kudos to Cengkareng’s management and Golf course maintenance team for keeping the course in great condition even with all the rain.
The wet weather and reports of extreme weather all over the local media and social media, and the heavy rain which delayed our tee times around 15-30 mins, had no effect on the teams scoring out on course. As the afternoon of Golfing stayed clear for a pleasant afternoon 18 holes walk until some light rain around 5pm till sunset, produced some very impressive and ‘low’ scoring.
A warm welcome to a large group of players joining JAWS for their ‘first’ weekday social golf game, welcome: Aik Seong Tan, Alex MacGregor, Ben Bresse, Chad Huffman, Greg Hobbs, Joseph Peries, Leroy Pramana, Neil Maclean, Nina Micski, Philip Blakeman, Ralf Schimdt, Ratan Bali, Ross Campbell, Sepand Zarrabi, Simone Toniolo, Wahyu B.
Newcomers: Chad Huffman & Greg Hobbs proved to be a very strong partnership scoring a gross 71 and nett 64.95 to take home Best Nett IV and 24 cans of San Miguel.
Well played Wahyu B, drafted in last minute to team up with Roger as his partner was MIA. Despite never have met, there games clicked as they posted a Nett 64.3 to secure Best Nett III.
Great to see the combination of Anirudh, a very solid 6 handicapper, and our ladies junior star Meher, shoot a nett 64.05 to bring home Best Nett II, Anirudh was chuffed as he was allowed to take all 24 cans home in time for his NY EVE party.
The round of the day and winning team score belonged to the partnership of Tribuhvan Singh and Vijay Sarashetti, both playing using their extensive local course knowledge alongside TPS strong long game and Vijay’s sharp short game, posting a Nett 63.55, well played Gents!
