Was Rawamangun founded in 1876 or when Suharto took office? What did Stallone shoot when he played there? Considering the sloppy course conditions, intermittent showers and its infamous tight fairways, the 13 JAWS troopers were much happier talking about Rawmangun’s history than golf scores.

Conditions made it a very challenging Tuesday morning round for just about everyone with net scores ranging from 75 to 94. However, the sun eventually peaked through and better weather and more laughter could be heard on the back nine. A big thanks to all who braved the weather and made it out.

Between the three of them, Aleksi, Emil and John hit more trees than a seasoned lumberjack. Emil started out strong on the first hole with a great drive and par. He had more great drives along the way but trouble on the fairways kept him out of contention. Similar to Emil, Aleksi had a great drive and ended up with a par on the first hole. Too many long but errant iron shots kept him out of contention. John had a disaster front nine but pulled it together some on the back hitting a few pars and no blow up holes.

Guarav, Nick, Willi and Jamie were the most consistent of the flights with half of them making the JAWS Leaderboard. Guarav started out slow but found some pace on the back as conditions improved. Nick, on the other hand, came out strong with all pars and bogies on the front nine. He was challenged on 13th and 14th holes but still managed to place 2nd on the JAWS Leaderboard.

Mr. Consistent himself, Willi, found a few trouble holes along the way but not enough to keep him off the top of the JAWS Leaderboard for the day. A big welcome to Jamie on his first round with JAWS. His gross score makes the rest of us want to go to the driving range and be more like Jamie but his close to negative handicap kept him off the JAWS Leaderboard.

With swirling wind and rain, the four brave golfers consisting of Iris, Bobby, Chris and Ajay started on hole 10. The narrow fairways with trees on either side made the course challenging. Despite swinging well and making several good pars’ Iris had to retire after 9 holes. Chris and Ajay found the course difficult.

Chris was striking the ball well but poor chipping and putting cost him whilst Ajay just could not get his game going. Bobby was driving well and shot a respectful Gross 89; one of the better scores on the day.

A BIG thank you to the Rawamangun Team for taking care of us and organizing a successful event.

A new unique event will be played by JAWS Sharks in December at Jagorawi on the 18th of December.

Whats a Mulligan ?
A mulligan is a second chance to perform an action, usually after the first chance went wrong through bad luck or a blunder. Its best-known meaning is whereby a player is informally allowed to replay a stroke, even though this is against the formal rules of golf.
So what is the Mulligan Challenge ?
IMAGINE HAVING THE OPPORTUNITY TO HIT EVERY SHOT TWICE
BE IT A DRIVE , IRON , CHIP OR A PUTT ….
CAN YOU THEN PLAY TWICE AS BETTER ?

With this basic format , the JAWS Mulligan Challenge will be played at the Jagorawi Old course on the 18th of December.

Over the last few rounds there has been some chatter over the Rules of Golf and Golf etiquettes

Golf is a game for ladies and gentleman, so when one goes for a round of golf be it: social or tournament golf one is required to behave as a lady or a gentleman and abide by golfing etiquette.
Yes, JAWS is a golf society promoting camaraderie and fun on the course but abiding by our societies rules of etiquette we can assure you of a much better and valuable golfing experience for your playing partners and yourself.
Not only must we uphold our reputation as a society at golf courses, don’t forget to value your own reputation as a golfer on and off the golf course, after all… we are all gentlemen and ladies who choose to play a ladies and gentlemen’s game.
