the day that was the 19th January, 2021

Pondok Cabe means “Chili Village” in English and there was plenty of spice on the course as 25 Sharks attacked on a cloudy Tuesday morning.

Divya, the Megalodon, was knocked off his throne but another JAWS admin managed to top the Leaderboard.  Congrats to Pras for hitting a stinging net 64 on the day, the BABY SHARK is growing. A big thanks to all who made it out.

It was cloudy when Emil, Mike, Jude and Chee teed off on Hole 1. It was a terrible start for Emil hitting a triple, double, bogey and double on the first four holes.

While others where making Pars and leaving Emil with a quick 8 over on his card. He then found his mojo on holes 5-9 hitting straight pars.

There was lots of luck with 3 errant left shots hitting the trees and knocking the ball back on the fairway.

Mike and Jude swore Emil made a deal with the devil and win their bets Jude was playing well on the 1st to 6th holes then suddenly got into trouble all throughout and ended up with a gross 91.

Mike the man had the most amazing straight shots with his driver and an 86 gross. Unlike Mike, Chee struggled off the tee with balls right and left most of the time. A bit rusty coming off a two month golf hiatus.  Emil kept it together and found the 2nd spot on the JAWS Leaderboard. Great weather, great friends with our JAWS family.

Widyanto, Chris, Yasin and Carlo played in the same flight. After a shaky start Yasin started to get his game together and made a chip in birdie on hole 17.

On the front 9 he continued to play well with many pars and a Gross 43 to finish just one below his handicap. Both Widy and Chris were inconsistent throughout the day with too many doubles to trouble the leaders. Carlo made some booming drives but his second shot and short game let him down. Overall a fun day with many laughs.

The first flight teeing of at Hole 10 was: Wahyudi, Panji and Willi G.  Willi G. was first to go on a course he never played before and hooked his drive left into the trees. It was a sign that it will be a long hard day for him.

Starting with a double bogey 6 followed with a 9 on the par 5 #11 it could only get better. Another 2 doubles followed with 4 pars and a bogey was good enough for a front nine 47. He shot the same no 47 on back nine which included 5 bogeys and two pars. Conclusion was that it was not the worst round but also not the best. Wahyudi is a decent single HC, great ball striker with a very smooth, easy looking swing. He shot 3 over 39 on the front 9 and was never in trouble.

The back nine he continued with his excellent ball striking only the putter would let him down and the only bad tee shot he had on the last hole which cost him a double bogey to finish 43 and a total of 82.  Panji with a HC of 24 was the 3rd ball in this flight. Starting with par on the first hole #10 was the start he was looking for and he continued his steady play with a 46 in the front nine. The back 9 he again started with pars and bogeys and he looked more like a potential 18 HC till the wheels come off on the last two holes and he ended up with a 50 and a total of 96.

A great day out for Agus, Ronald, DeShampoo Giles and the Rookie Divya. Starting off like a piercing bullet, Deshampoo went on a birdie and par spree with only 1 over in his first 8 holes then was a few up and a downs leading to some scores and playing above handicap.

Ronald was hitting it long but could not convert his putts and chips with very slow bumpy greens.

Agus changed his grip on the putter and suddenly all that was grazing was going in but a bit too late.  Divya played average golf with the slow greens not helping and missed at least 5 par puts from 4 feet or less and even with 2 birdies managed only an above par round.

A great day out for this fourball of misfits who together formed a great fun team full of laughs and chuckles.

Pras, Ruth, Rosie and Akita were the first sharks to descend upon the fairways of Pondok Cabe.

baby sharks

Pras started off like a bat out of hell scoring two pars and a birdie on the first three holes. He was hitting the ball consistently and putted very well throughout the round. He finished with the a net 64 topping the JAWS Leaderboard.

Rosie was also off to a good start. She hit her first par on the second hole. Unfortunately there was a bit of rust in her golf game which caused her to lose the momentum she had at the beginning of the round with a blow-up hole when she scored a 9 on a par 5.

Rosie was able to finish the round with a net 73. Ruth had a rough day at the office. Her golf game could not build any momentum which caused her a lot of frustration and kept her in a negative head space throughout the round. She finished the round with a net 76.

Akita finally was able to join her fellow sharks after a extended hiatus from golf. Which unfortunately translates to a long day on the course, with a lot of doubles and triples scored. Akita finished the round with a net 78.
