JAWS at Cengkareng Golf Club

Friday 26th November 2021

Forget your opponents. Always play against Par.

4 flights and 14 Sharks played on a wet and windy Friday afternoon, as strong winds, and rain blew in from the Indian Ocean which disrupted the back nine but luckily did not stop our Sharks finishing their 18 holes.

Cengkareng continues to be a JAWS firm favourite on the playing schedule, and the Mulligan’s Bar in the clubhouse offered some welcome shelter from the Rain and Winds post game for some well deserved refreshments.

The highight of the day’s play was the Semi-final matchplay battle between: Hari Tian and last year’s losing finalist Willi G. Part-time scribe Fernando was well positioned in the same flight alongside Bobby Cangkrama to report on the epic battle:

“Willi started very cold, arriving at the last minute, and was quickly down 2 after 2. As he warmed up Willi started cracking good drives but was matched by his relentless opponent. Still it was all square after 9 holes. Willi birdied 10 and was up 1 until the tough 3rd hole and par 3 4th. Hari managed his 4th par in a row to take a 1 hole lead. The 5th hole was bad by both players. Should have been won by Willi as he was 80m from green in 2. He let it slip and was down 2. Hari pared 6 and was up 3 with 3 to go. Willi won the 7th but tied the 8th. Game over Hari won 2/1”.

Congratulations Hari Tian on what appears to have been a very tough match and well done for being the first Shark in the Grand Final!

A warm welcome back to Carlo after many weeks absence and congratulations on a fine round to take Best Nett 1 withan impressive Nett 68, well played sir! Some fine golf from Subash, who seems to have rediscovered his form to take best nett II with a Nett 69. Last but not least, Akhil appears to have found some very consistent form and don’t be surprised if your handicap is smaller next week sir!

Congratulations to the Winners:

  • Best Net I: Carlo Hutahaean – Nett 68
  • Best Nett II: Subash Advani – Nett 69
  • Best Nett III: Akhil Aggarwal – Nett 70

Meanwhile in this years matchplay things are getting very serious and exciting with just 3 Big Fish left in contention for the 2021 ‘matchplay’ crown with the final duel schedulled for early December!
