36 JAWS players teed it up Friday for a 11am to noon tee time at Kedaton Golf way out west on the Jakarta-Merak Toll Road past Karawaci and Tangerang turning off at Cikupa.
Despite it’s distance from home players who make the commitment and rewarded with a great course layout with plenty of water, palm trees and powdery Belitung island sand in the bunkers. At Rp. 425,000 for a shared cart, it could well be one of the best deals in town.
Previous games at Kedaton with JAWS have failed to gather much hype and large numbers primarily due to its distance from the city, but with the added incentive and spice of young brother Gaurav’s birthday / house warming party just off the 15th fairway, Golfers turned up in mass to join the game and celebrate with one of JAW’s most loyal players since our humble beginnings as a Golf community in 2020. Happy Birthday Gaurav! Here is to many more birdies ahead…
The Play:
The JAWS players were rewarded with what felt like a private course, as there were very few other players on the Golf Course besides the JAWS players ready to tee off. Ideal weather conditions and no signs of rain as players hit off for their Friday afternoon games.
All rounds were played at a good click with most flights completing their 18 holes in 4 hours and were back in the cozy clubhouse to enjoy cold refreshments, pre-sundowner bevies and snacks.
Low Gross was taken by single digit stalwart Andrew Deane with a 83, which was a little high even by his own standards, but most the low gross scores of the day took Best Nett prizes.
Gaurav took home Best Nett 5 shared with Aleksi Tiihonen on his birthday, with a pair of nett 74’s and a warm welcome back to the Flying Finn who has recently returned from a cold and frosty Finland.
Han Peng continues his steady improvements with a classy nett 70, accompanied by Jeremy Oberoi sporting a Freddy Mercury-esque moustache which surprisingly does not seem to be effecting his Golf game, only his playing partners in close proximity.
JAWS Captain Simon put together solid back nine which included 4 birdies and after a stop start 40 on the front to shoot 75 gross and 69 nett. His best round in a few months, to take home Best Nett 2.
Admin and JAWS pairings co-ordinator seemingly was rewarded for all his hard work with the round of his year to date posting a gross 82, nett 68 to take home best nett 1 all the more impressive as his first three homes went double, double and double. Before waking up and making a load of pars and birdies with some solid all round golfing from tee to green and a birdie-birdie start on his back nine. Well played Pras, well deserved!
All-in-all a great Friday afternoon game on a course that many players are unfamiliar with. With it’s very affordable price, good condition, interesting layout and one JAWS player conveniently living a lob wedge from the 15th fairway we look forward to many enjoyable Friday games at Kedaton in the future.
A gentle reminder for JAWS players to get in contact with their 2022 Match-play group members, with around 5 weeks left to complete your pending fixtures in order to qualify for the knock out rounds.
Also, for all those who did not play in Rd #1 of the JAWS CONNECT ENERGY CHARITY LEAGUE at Cengkareng, Round 2 is coming up in 3 weeks at Jagorawi Old Course, on Friday 1st April, so find yourself a suitable and competitive partner, and sign them up for the season before someone else does.
